Auto Detailing in Export, PA
Detailing done inside an auto body shop comes with a bias, and it is a useful one: we look at paint under booth lights all day, so we tend to notice things a wash bay never would.
Paint correction, honestly explained
Swirls and haze are thousands of shallow scratches in the clear coat, most of them installed by automatic car washes and dry towels. Correcting them means machine-polishing a small amount of clear away until the surface is level again. That works beautifully, and it is also finite. Clear coat is measured in microns and there is only so much of it, which is why we check thickness before deciding how aggressive to go. A shop that polishes hard on every car will eventually burn one through, and there is no repair for that short of refinishing.
Ceramic coating
Applied over corrected paint, a coating gives you a hard, hydrophobic layer that makes washing easier and holds gloss for years. Applied over uncorrected paint it locks the swirls in place under something durable. The order matters, and anyone offering to coat a neglected finish the same afternoon is skipping the part that mattered.
Interiors and headlights
Extraction on carpet and upholstery, and treatment on leather rather than a dressing that looks wet for a week. Hazed headlight lenses get sanded back and resealed with a proper coating, which is a meaningful safety improvement on a dark stretch of Route 66 and one of the cheapest things you can do to a ten-year-old car.
Good timing
After collision work, so a fresh panel does not sit next to dull ones. Before selling. Or after a Pennsylvania winter, when the salt is finally done.
